An access log is a complete list of all the files which were accessed by the visitors of a certain website. Each and every file that was requested in some way shall be listed, so if you have only one page with 3 embedded graphics, one video and one embedded text file, for instance, the access log will contain a total of six entries - one for each of the 6 files which were accessed when the website visitor opened the webpage. A log usually shows the file name and path, the date, along with the visitor’s OS, web browser and IP address. Oftentimes you may also find the referrer sites that sent the visitors to your Internet site. The data which an access log file provides is in human-readable plain text format. It could be processed by special software on a desktop machine and used to prepare reports on the functionality of a website, besides the web statistics your hosting server may have created.

Access Log Manager in Hosting

When you obtain a hosting from our company, you will be able to decide if access logs must be produced and for which domains or subdomains inside your account this must be done. You could enable this option from the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia CP, integrated with all shared accounts. Every single domain name you host or subdomain you create will be listed there and you'll see an On/Off option next to each one of them, so you can conveniently trigger or disable the generation of access logs individually for every website that you have. You may save a log to your computer by clicking on the Download link that you'll see inside the same section of the CP. The link will be available even if you stop the log generation, so you will still have access to the data collected by our system.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers

Our sophisticated hosting platform shall create access logs for every single Internet site hosted in a semi-dedicated server account, provided that this function is enabled. All domain names and subdomains that you have will be listed within the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia CP, which we provide with all the accounts, so if you need our system to start generating logs for each of them, you should just click on the small button on the right side of the respective domain/subdomain and switch the default Off option to On. You can disable this feature at any time by following exactly the same steps. You'll find a Download link for each log inside the same section of the Control Panel, so you may save the content gathered by our system in .txt format with only a mouse click. An existing log file may be downloaded even after the option has been deactivated, so you will still be able to check out the data that has already been generated.
